Award-Winning Singer/Songwriter

From a very early age, Jim Witter’s parents knew he was destined for the stage. "We would get phone calls from neighbours saying how much they were enjoying Jim’s concert. Turns out he was on our front porch belting out tunes for anyone who would listen”, says his mom about the then 4-year old. "That front porch seemed just like the perfect stage to me”, Jim recalls, “It would have been a shame not to use it as one!”

Jim has been performing since he was a child, and professionally for the last 30 years. His first break came in his early twenties when Sony Music Canada signed Jim to an artist development deal which lead to a record deal with FRE records in Toronto. Jim’s self-titled debut album garnered 5 top ten radio hits, 3 hit videos, and awards from the Canadian Country Music Association, The Big Country Awards, a SOCAN Songwriting award, and others. This impressive debut lead to a record deal with Curb records in Nashville, home to Leanne Rimes, Tim McGraw and Wynonna Judd. More impressive chart action followed, and Jim’s album “Forgiveness” was even nominated for a Dove Award for “Inspirational Album Of The Year” in Nashville.

Through the years Jim has received much audience feedback requesting a show of Barry Manilow’s material. “I remember singing Manilow songs while I was playing piano bars in Southern Ontario as a teenager. I love these tunes. Everybody does. Even those who won’t admit it...they love a good Manilow song”. After carefully choosing the best from Barry Manilow’s songbook, working on the arrangements, and tailoring the visual aspect of the show, Jim’s newest musical tribute “I Write The Songs” is ready to go on the road.

Songs like “Mandy”, “Could It Be Magic”, “Weekend In New England”, and “Even Now” are just a few of the hits you’ll hear Jim and his band recreate in all of their full, Manilow splendor. Get ready for lots of audience participation too, and lots of laughs during songs like “Copa Cabana” where some lucky audience members become the stars of the song on the giant screen behind Jim and the band!

You’ll learn about some of the TV jingles that Barry wrote that you perhaps weren’t aware of, but know intimately. You’ll be singing along to tunes like “Can’t Smile Without You”, “Looks Like We Made It”, and others while the lyrics for the songs appear on the screen behind. Barry Manilow’s songs have the power to make you smile, make you laugh, and even shed a tear. You’ll hear these songs come alive like you never have before when Jim and his band take the stage.

“ ...vocals where impeccable... ”
