The Cryan’ Shames exploded out of Chicago’s western suburbs in 1965 when their mega-hit Sugar and Spice got them a national record deal. Their patented vocal harmonies, featuring lead singer Tom “Toad” Doody, their strong musicianship, their high-energy stage show, with front man Jim “Hooke” Pilster, and the ability to write original tunes would become fan favorites. The Cryan’ Shames still often perform with old friends like Ronnie Rice of the New Colony Six and they love playing each other’s tunes.
